Great hearing from Glenn and learning about your website. I took the liberty of posting a Link to this website on the webpage listed above. That page is a tribute to the crew of Miss Mandy, 374th BS, 308th BG. My dad, David Donnan, was the navigator on Rae Behrens B-24 'Miss Mandy' named for his wife Amanda Behrens.
For those of you CBI'ers still living, allow me say "Thank You" for your service and for making our world a better place. I would invite you to see some of your fellow aviators honored on our VFW's 'Wall of Valor' at:

I was with the 2757 (old 456) Engineer Depot Co. on the Ledo Road 21 Months. I had the unhappy experience of being on a supply train as a guard at Manapur Station when the Japanese cut the railroad at that place, March 18, 1944. This was during Kohima campaign. served from Ledo to Bhamo where I knew Father Jim Stuart. I do not recall the person's name with me at Manipur Station, but he was from Cleveland. Oh. Can you direct me to a site that will tell of history of this unit. I have some of his information and he escorted convoys down Ledo Road. But that is about all I know.

Thanks in advance,

hi! this is a wonderful website!

my dad, James D. Jett, from Liberty TX, was a captain in the USAAF's 14th Air Force. i'm unsure about his division or squadron. he was stationed in Karachi where he taught chinese to fly. i'm pretty sure he flew a P-40, with "the Wilda Marie" as the noseart (from pictures i've seen). i'll have access to his photo albums from the CBI soon and hope to post some of the pictures he took.

would anyone here remember him?

I am searching for information about my Great Uncle (on my Father’s side), Boyd H. Gallaher, Jr. of Washington state. As it happens, he served in the 1347th AAFBU with you in WWII as a C-109 Pilot. His plane was lost while flying over the hump on July 30, 1945. I was wondering if you might remember anything about him or about the incident. The other members of his crew were Gordon Tucker on Wisconsin, Forrest Craig of Illinois, and Richard Gilmore of California. Another curiosity is that my Grandfather (on my Mother’s side) was also a Pilot of a C-109 in the 1347th AAFBU, John Eilers. What a coincidence that my Mother and Father were not even born yet and their Father and Uncle were serving alongside each other. One made it and the other didn’t. Thanks for anything you can recall. God bless all of you who served in WWII and thanks for your service to the nation.

My Uncle, Peter William "Bill" Atkinson was a wingman in the 1st squadron of the Flying Tigers. He was killed in October 1941 while testing a Curtis P-40.

We are looking to know where he is buried. We believe it to be in the RAF section of a Rangoon cemetary. We would so much like to see a picture of his grave.

Does anyone know him or where I might go to pay my respects to Uncle Bill, one of the defenders of freedom from the Greatest Generation?

I was a UH-1 and OH-6A helicopter pilot in Vietnam in 1968-1969. Great Flying! Crappy War!

Also I came into the Army originaly as a 05B Radio Operator.

(former WA8PGB) I was floored to stumble into this site. My dad (Robert - Bob)was a Hump R/O from Cleveland Ohio, ham W8APL, and surely would have been a member of this group. He ran a RACES net operation in the Detroit area in the 50's and early 60's. He died when I was 14(1966) and he didn't talk alot about the experience, but I know it was some of the best and worst of his life (especially being seriously injured and missing). If any of you knew my dad, please contact me. It would be good to know anything about him. Some of him rubbed off. I was a ham for many years (but let it lapse some years ago) and I own and fly my own plane.

chief who was stationed at Misamari,Assam at the same time as my brother-in-law Lee W. Churchman has been able to provide many photos and documentary info which I forwarded to my sister and family. Nicholas H. Edwards was that crew-chief, and he went on after the war to put the letters M.D.
after his name. Dr. Edwards is a true southern gentleman. and generous to a fault. Unfortunately he does not have, nor
does he plan to own a computer. Thanks for letting me use your message board. RBT

Sent the author an email to find out his name - I was a squadron mate and also flew mules to China more than once and hauled a lot of the Chinese 6th Army to China. What a life! I even flew with the samr Radio Operator at least once!

Happy to be a participant on your new web site. I was a
RO and flew the hump on C-109 later replaced by C-54s.
Flew into many different air bases in China hauling gasoline. Our base was located in Shamshernagar and it
was the 1347th AABU. Prior to my Hump tour I flew 53
combat missions on B-25s in the North Africa and Italian
campaigns.
