ORIGINATED 23 JULY, 1986 BY A COUPLE OF "EX" WW-II, 14th AIR FORCE MEMBERS, THE NET IS OPEN TO ANYONE THAT SERVED IN THE CHINA, BURMA INDIA THEATER, IN ASSISTANCE TO CHINA'S WAR EFFORT AGAINST JAPAN.

The OLD CHINA HANDS NET is operated entirely via volunteers; there are no initiation fees or dues collected.   Notices, newsletters and roster lists are mailed to members paying only annual mailing costs.

'OLD CHINA HANDS' are dedicated to good amateur radio operating practices and good sportsmanship.

Purpose of the net is to meet and enjoy new friends, renew old acquaintances and to share CBI experiences.

Old China Hands officials are:

Group Commanding Officer
Secretary/Treasurer/ Information Officer
Net Director
East Area Director
West Area Director

Officials are elected by active members.

OPERATIONS:

OLD CHINA HANDS NET IS NOT A TRAFFIC NET.   It is operated informally, via volunteer net controllers.   Round table discussions are conducted, with equal share of transmit time.   OLD CHINA HANDS NET will assist during and valid emergency.

Net times and frequencies are established or changed via majority vote of current active members.

Net controllers are selected by OLD China Hands officials from list of volunteers.   During any absence of net controller, any active member MAY OPEN AND CONDUCT THE NET on that particular scheduled time.

During "check in", net controller will designate any necessary relay stations to assist.   He will establish the transmit sequence and make certain that the sequence is followed.   At decision of net controller, "One on One" conversations will be moved off frequency in order to save net time.

Three modes of operations are recognized:
  1. Old China Hand member that holds a current Amateur Radio License.
  2. Old China Hand member that is not licensed but operates "third party" through a licensed Amateur.
  3. Old China Hand member that operates as a Short Wave Listener.
