Hao! Nee! Hao!
( Greetings to you! )

"Old China Hands" is group of Radio Amateurs that served in the China, Burma, India Theater before, during and shortly after WW-II, meeting via Amateur Radio "nets" three times weekly.

Our group was formed 23 July 1986. Then on June 2, 1987, with permission of the 14th AF Association to adopt their old name "China Hands", we chartered with only six members.   Since that time, our membership has grown to 120!   We were constantly being confused as being some sort of charitable group for China, so on 14 February, 1988 we changed our name to "Old China Hands", which of course, is more fitting.

During the war years, we served in various military organizations, Army, Air Corps, Navy, Marine Corps, "C' Bee's", and in a branch of the Chinese Military, in support of the war effort against Japan. Many of us were flight crew members, others were ground based personnel, and still others were aboard ship. Many of us were radio operators on bomber, transport or cargo planes or naval and merchant ships. Others managed ground to air traffic and direction finding operations, as well as handling point to point, high speed, CW communications. We were stationed in various locations throughout China, Burma and India. Many Old China Hands were licensed Amateur Radio Operators before WW-II. Others were trained as radio operators in the military. A few of our members became Amateur Radio Operators as a hobby, after the war.

Old China Hands members meet via Amateur Radio "nets" three times weekly. Our nets are operated informally, via volunteer net controllers. Old China Hands is not a traffic net. Purpose of the net is to meet and enjoy new friends, renew old acquaintances and share CBI experiences. Round table discussions are conducted, with equal share of transmit time. All licensed Amateur Radio Operators are invited to tune it, read the mail and check in at any time. Old China Hands Net will assist during any valid emergency.

Eligibility to join Old China Hands requires that you or one of your direct family members served in the China, Burma, India theater of operations before, during or after WW-II, during the post war "clean up period."
